Quewe

Held on a delicate metal foot, this work presents an oval hollow protected by a metal mesh through which a sheltered interior can be glimpsed. The contrast between the rough, fire-burnt rim and the geometric grid gives the piece the atmosphere of an industrial nest or an archaeological shell. The sculpture suggests a safe refuge, an intimate space in which matter jealously guards its fragile secret.
