Angel

A vertical axis of industrial section, topped by a ring and run through by a hanging metal chain, opens at its centre to reveal two toothed lateral silhouettes in the form of gears or schematic wings. The work subverts the mechanical elements of load and traction to give them a spiritual, protective dimension. The roughness of rusted iron becomes a tutelary presence, a metal sentinel keeping watch over the memory of the space.
