Under Pressure

A cylindrical shaft of rusted iron, anchored to a stone base, stretches vertically until it bursts open at its upper section into a jagged, open wound whose interior is held in check by the force of a central spring. The work gives body to the extreme tension of physical and emotional limits, where the resistance of steel yields to the contained force of pressure, revealing the latent energy that inhabits the interior of every structure.
