Daedalus

Daedalus evokes the figure of the mythical Athenian craftsman, builder of the labyrinth and of the wings of feather and wax with which he escaped it. The ideas of confinement and of the urge to transcend the limits of matter take shape in polychrome metal forms. The sculpture unfolds angular, ascending metal planes that twist through space. The fine rods that tension and connect the structures act as the frames of wings in potential, suggesting an intricate path in which the rigidity of metal gives way to an apparent weightlessness. The piece becomes trap and escape at once: a reminder that every human construction contains within it both the challenge of the labyrinth and the daring to seek the horizon.
